Notes

Nice mix of road, beach sand, and dirt trails while touring around the park with Kim.

Two notable notes. 1) we visited the "poles" which is where many of the local surfers like to go. Yep, tons of surfers here and the waves looked a tad bit better than our other beach areas. It's right on the southern border of the navy base. Funny how the entire base is secured with chain link and barbed wire, but I could have easily walked on at the beach. 2) we got to see a sailboat that had washed up on the beach - made me wonder if the occupants survived or not. The boat was registered in Virginia.

They have about 20 miles of mountain bike trails, but it was crowded and we didn't want to be the assholes in everyone's way on the big ass beach cruisers. Maybe another day we'll go back mid-week.

The park was only crowded at a couple spots on the beach when we first got there, but the line at the gate was ridiculous on the way out. Glad we got there early-ish.
