Notes

Very foggy today. I ran through a swamp with a raised boardwalk. As the morning warmed up the fog got worse.

Before getting to the swamp though, I had to run 3 miles on the road to get there. While running 4' off the side of a major road, a truck swerved to play like he was going to hit me at a speed of about 45 MPH. I know he thought it was all in fun, but it was not fun for me. He then swerved back onto the road. I chased him back on the road and tried to put a dent in the side of the truck. I missed. He slammed on his brakes and the car behind him almost did not stop in time. All of this was happening so fast and the car behind was right on his tail that I could not get a license plate number.

To me that is equivalent to pointing a loaded gun at my head and then pulling the trigger 6" to the side. Anyone would call that attempted murder. If there was any way to report this driver to the police I would report it as attempted murder. This does not sit well with me.

Part of the purpose of this run was to blow off some serious stress. I threw out any distance or time goals for today just to run free. Then that happened. I continued down the road another 1/2 mile before becoming emotionally overwhelmed. I had to stand on the side of the road bawling for a few seconds just to be able to continue.

I then got into the swamp and was attacked by what appeared to be horse flies. I could not really see them well, but the one I saw looked like a fly, but were aggressive like wasps or hornets. Fortunately they only bit and did not sting. I am sure I looked quite humorous running through a swamp flailing around with my cap in my hand. Irritating, but also gave some humor to the stressful first half of the run.

I am in a much better mood now. Going to have a brunch and then spend the rest of the day with some of my best friends in the whole world. I am looking forward to it.
