Okayyyy, woo! Another big 5K PR in the books at Indy with Illinois Elite.

Successful day. Thought I would be able to drop 12 seconds off of last weekend's time, on a really good day. Went out exactly how I wanted at 5:40 pace, first mile was easy and I was just trying to figure out where I'd be in the race. Two girls in front of me were killin it and I knew that about .75 in they were gonna beat me. I just kept workin on them in mile one.

After getting through the first mile, I knew if I didn't push the second mile my time would slow and I wouldn't PR. Enter: blue shirt dude. As he passed me, I started to pick it up and run the second mile harder because I was feeling good. He stayed close behind me the entire mile, went through in 5:32. At this point, I thought my hands were done for. I was so focused on running that I didn't realize how FREAKING COLD my hands were until I tried to hit my watch for the split.

Blue shirt moved up past me and the start of mile 3. I turned it up a little thinking I was slowing down. He was gaining ground on me and we were heading into what I thought was the last turn (wrong) and some stupid lady was crossing the street right in front of me. Like hell I was gonna go around her. So I charged her turning the corner and she screamed a little. To which I have to say, get out of the freakin way lady. Coming into the last stretch I was crunching my eyes to see the time and saw the clock had just turned to 17 and I was close to the finish line. Just pushed until I crossed the line without a super hard kick. Heard Emma cheering for me (she's so great at cheering) right at the end which was a nice little push.

Can't believe the girl that won, almost won the entire race...insanely fast. After the race, looked around for Emma. Ended up seeing Jer and grabbing my sweatshirt to jog and watch everyone else finish. Everyone had really good day, so it was all happiness after the race. Such a fun atmosphere to be in. After grabbed brunch with the McDonnell's.
