One day I'm not going to PR at Shamrock but happy I did today. Went out with a big group of gals, Kim, Cami, Sarah and Emma and just tried to run with everyone. Kim shot out way ahead in the first .5 which was odd. Kinda found a good group though mile 2 or so. Sarah came up mile 2.5 and kinda yoyoed back and forth with me. Stayed with the group through mile 3.5-4 but started to lose Cami and some people. Just focused on picking off the laggers. After the turn onto Michigan Ave, Sarah kinda made a move. Normally, I'd pull myself back up to her but instead I decided to keep running and then try to kick hard (like I promised myself the night before). Made it up the hill and had some work to do. Looked up and saw Chirine. And thought, okay today is the day. And I actually kicked. About 100 meters in, I hated myself for doing it because I had to run so fast for SO LONG. Crossed the line right around 28. Was initially excited about the time but then sad I didn't just break 28. Overall, shockingly good run though.
DW women got 5th which was good considering we didn't even race Kristina or Jeannie and Lauren wasn't in fantastic shape.
Good day after eating brunch and then going home for a quick shower and then back to Goose Island. Got home around 6:30-45 which was nice.
