Notes

Many moons ago, my friend Emma convinced me to run a 10K relay. On a track. In the middle of July. And I said yes...

After some sneaky social media promotion, Second City blah blah blah also entered the race. We knew our 500 dollars quickly went out the door as did most of our strategizing. After arriving at the track, we found out there were gift cards for the fastest first lap and “final” lap for the second runner. Emma decided she was going to go for it. She was the first runner (13 laps) and I obviously was the second (12 laps) as we alternated throughout the race.

When we got to the start of the race, there were only 3 female teams on the line, so I was thinking we could just chill and at least win our registration money back. Emma went out hot and won the gift card (woohoo!), but we slowly were caught the following laps. After about 3/4 laps Lucchesi, the worst human on the planet and poor sportsman, yelled directly at me "We're heating up". Which if you know anything about me, you don't make me mad when I'm running. So I made it my goal to beat Karen every lap (even though she is so nice). I was successful every lap except the last one, because LOL, no speed. I tried for about 20m and took one look at her stride and knew it. This was probably the hottest race I have ever done. Despite that, great day. Definitely will do this again next year.

Think I hurt every muscle in my legs though. Omg. SO dead. Groin is particularly flared up so I have to take care of these buddies for GLR next week.
