Easy morning run. I first walked out of the house with shorts and a long sleeved running shirt, but after about 20 seconds I realized it was a bit too cold to run in just that - so I went in and got my pullover windbreaker for another layer and a pair of gloves. My first mile in cold weather always shows a high HR - I'm not sure if it is due to the HRM strap not reporting well (perhaps since my skin is dryer there is not as good as connection to my body?) or if my insides are shivering a bit so my heart is actually beating more. I definitely sped up as this route becomes downhill - mile 3 was a 9:10 mile and mile 4 was 9:34. I may want to try to run without music for my next easy run - just to see if I can run a bit more controlled and slower...or I'll just need to hit the treadmill at the gym to get a slow and steady run. Last comment - the day after Halloween I started counting calories again. I didn't hit my daily goal every day, but when I did go over, it was just by 100-200 calories and nothing major. I definitely stopped a few potential night time eating binges with Halloween candy being so available. I lost 1.5 pounds this week which is definitely in the right direction!
