Hagg Lake

Notes

Ugh

The good - the hamstring feels ok and I was not afraid at the end to out kick a 78 year old man with a broken foot to a sprint finish. (embarrassed that I had to, yes, afraid, no)

The bad - I was expecting the time downgrade (last year same course 48:33) to be 70% because of lost fitness and 30% fear of running hard and I can say that it was 100% lost fitness (including weight gain)

The ugly - I am pretty sure I ran the first 3 miles at the same pace I did last year. I have lost the ability to judge my own pace and fitness. Last year I did not get passed in the last half of any of my 10K's, this time I got blown by at mile 3.5 and then again at mile 5. And had to dig deep to hold off the 78 year old.

MTA: The time downgrade is actually a bit worse even than it looks. I am 99% certain last year we were required to stay on the left side of the road and only cross at the turn around, this year the RD was in the hospital and we didnt get those instructions and were cutting the tangents on a twisty hilly course.
