Notes

9:15, 8:57, 8:56, and the last mile was complicated by calves in rebellion. The left calf I tore last week just barely started a signal at 3 miles. Down Westview terrace, the right calf started to cramp, and half way down I was managing both. Pulsing hands and attention to my foot swing was the focus at first. I had excellent focus on posture and breathing for the whole run, so did not want to compromise because of this pain. I didn't and this made the pain easier to bear. Also, ran with strict nasal breathing for most of the first mile. This wasn't possible on the hill, and after, my nose was a little runny. It's amazing how much more difficult it is to mantain postural awareness when switching from nasal inhale to mouth exhale and back. I'm fairly certain my right calf rebelled due to my effective hip flexion, where I usually couple my low back on the right. I'm hoping this is just a rough period of adaptation.
