Got out ahead of the race, full workout and cat crawls at the railings before the leaders arrived. That was 10 pullups and a 4 rep set of Mountain climbers into stretches and a handstand hold. I did static stretches first then the full 4 rep of each side like Nye does, then immediately got up to run to the railings without rest. Railings were slow because I was tired. I didn't wait to run after those either, though I did stop to cheer on the first few runners before heading into the woods. Met the intense trail runner dude from Monday nights on the way to the summit and chatted. Cooled down completely then did another full climber workout and ran back down. Did climb-outs for the first time, very well. Switched directions a couple times. If I'm going to address my hip imbalances, I think this is pretty crucial. Climbed over the monument and did 10 more pullups before heading in. Sat and chatted with Walt K., Bob Massaro, and Bill Thibeault before going in to wash my hands. Chatted with Dan McNair at the car. I did what I enjoyed and completely ignored the race per-se but had great social interactions. I'm always anxious about skipping the formal participation and losing out on my rare social contact, but doing my own thing served me perfectly well. So awesome workout and a little more confident in being a weirdo is a win all the way around.
