Notes

The plan for this run was 31-32 miles. I hit the PHT starting from Algonkian and headed towards Great Falls to get some practice on the North Face 50 course. It rained a lot this week and the trails were very muddy. The new shoes had great traction. I rarely slipped and never fell which for me is really good even for only a 15 miler. I got out to about mile 7.5 and check the time. I knew getting in the whole 31-32 mile was going to be a stretch mostly because I didn't want to be away from the family for so long and my mom came to town for my daughters birthday and it just didn't feel right getting away for such a long run. That's one of the biggest challenges I have so far with ultra running, just finding the time to get in the miles. Some people I know run late at night or early in the morning and that might work but if I do that I need to make sure I get enough sleep. Things go south for me fast if I start averaging less than 7 hours a night. Next weekend could be a challenge too because my wife is heading out of town for a half marathon so I'll have the kids most of the weekend. My only real window will be either early Saturday or late Sunday. I'm leaning towards early Saturday.
