Notes

An ok race, considering the conditions. I was in the open race. The weather was extremely warm, around 87 with the sun out and the course was in a field. It was probably the most brutal race I have ran, I can only think of the Missouri race in high school that came close in terms of misery. Morale was extremely low for everyone I think, myself included. I wanted to stop at points, it was just that brutal. That being said, I think I paced the race well. I went out chill with Stephen and really tried to hold a steady pace. But then it got to a certain point when I felt like I was fading so I just decided to focus on picking off people. I think I passed a lot of them. I had a pretty fast kick also, and I beat a guy who was a little bit in front of me. Normally, I never really have a kick. My time was only like 50 seconds off last weeks time which wasn't good, so I think I can race well next race with the same strategy. Tommy really helped me with around a mile left when he screamed something to the effect of, "This is EASY," and so I just kept that in my mind every time I started to feel it. Then with like 500m left he shouted that there was an Oberlin guy right behind me so I started to gun it and I was able to finish like I did. Jeremy had to go to the hospital and Alana passed out which was insane. Emma also won D3 champion which is awesome, she is a beast.
