Notes
In the long run there's still time to change the road you're on.
The stairway is like running up a cliff face. Not that I ran. The stairway is the (almost) last in a series of killer climbs in this race. Stumbling through a creek bed after coming down out of the mountains I told the runner behind me I had just enough energy left to fall flat on my face. Somehow I stayed upright, using the old technique of never getting up enough momentum to take myself down if I tripped. To be a rock, and not to roll.
Nice weather, overcast all morning until just ass I started up the stairway. Hot for the last few miles. Great post-race party.
$5 breakfast catered by Boy Scouts.
Free beer provided by Mike Hess Brewing. With a word I could get what I came for.
