Notes
Cool temp's. Heavy fog and sprinkles of condensation at the start. 10 minute bus ride which was so strange. We ran up 4.5 miles, about 3 miles to the mountains, then ran down to the beach. Great half marathon course! (Cin loved, loved, loved the marathon course!)
GI issues. Had to stop 3 times to take care of stomach. There were not enough porta potties! Saw port potty off the course and the road and ran off course to get to it. Second time, asked the cheering station person for a handful of napkins or whatever she might have, then a mile later actually asked a spectator if they lived in the house on the street where they were and if I could use their bathroom. Oh my goodness, I have never had to do that. I was so grateful they let me!! Had problems at the finish. My stomach hurt, didn't want to eat much. I did want a beer and finally got one after Cin and Ryan finished their marathon.
Abbs took pictures at a half mile out and then we went back to the hotel to shower. Right when we got to the room, I called Cin to see what mile she was and she was at mile 23! Abbs and I had to hurry back over to the finish line. I walked back from the finish til I met them (about 1/2 - 3/4 mile) then called Abb so she'd be ready to take pictures and then ran Cin and Ryan in. It was a true miracle!!
This race was excellent!!
I was really surprised how soaking sopping wet I was at the finish from the humidity. It was comfortable because of the cool temperatures. It was so weird. First time for that!
