Notes
A fitness test. My goal was sub 1:16:30 7:34 pace like my marathon 10 M split. I was not trying for anything crazy .
My hips fatigued but held up. Hopefully they're OK. About a 1 minute positive split. 36:26/37:33 Weather was nearly perfect. About 32F and partly cloudy with no wind to start and 35 at the end.
I was really helped by a 28yo Blake. He stayed with me from 2.5 to my finish. Could not have finished like that without him. Thanks. I suggested twice that he go ahead but he stuck with me. We (he) talked running the whole time. We talked about Chicago and Boston and New York local roads/trails and races.
He finished his 3rd 5mile in 33:43. Very generous of him to pace me.
