Notes

Though I was planning to run this by heart rate at 165bpm and hoping for sub 3:30, I decided I could manage 3:25 for some reason on the bus to London the day before. Still determined to stick to heart rate, but thought that it might be better.

Felt great until about mile 16 to 17 when suddenly there were a /lot/ of people walking and it started to cross my mind that I might want to join them. Started to feel pretty hard then, but not the same as at high intensity efforts which just felt weird, not being in real pain but not being able to speed up. Was actually trying to slow down in order to bring my heart rate back into range, but when this still hadn't happened at mile 22 I decided that I might as well try to push a bit more.

Last 800 metres were awful and apparently I ran past Buckingham Palace during them but I honestly can't say that I noticed. Came in at chip time of 3:26:14 and a plan never to do another one again, but within a few minutes was thinking about how it might have better if I paced it a little differently...

Couldn't move my arms after the finish; had to lie down and put some weight on them to loosen them up.

Garmin measured 26.49 miles, which isn't that much over considering the length of the course.

SiS gels at miles 5, 9, 13, 17, 21 and 24; final one was likely pointless but it felt like I might as well at the time.
