Ugh oh boy. A mix of a great long run and a really tough one. Had a cup of coffee, maybe my second in my life about 25 minutes before leaving to give that a test. I think it was mostly fine, maybe 5 minutes sooner would've been better. Took chews about 35 minutes in and was still feeling really light and strong (and just zipping along). I had a pit stop at about 45 minutes and then stopped for water at Airport Park. Took a gel at 65 minutes and my stomach felt pretty relaxed. Ran out just past law island and started my tempo on the way back. Not sure why every time I do speed work on my long runs it seems like I'm running into the wind. Not a strong wind (5-10mph), but a steady one out of the south. I didn't really get splits but got my 8 mile time (43 flat, so about 5:23 pace). I was hoping for closer to 5:20/5:18 but I really just didn't have it in my legs. The week was definitely long but I think between Thursdays workout and 19 miles yesterday I was just lacking that extra pop.
