Notes

Overall, this was a fairly slow long run for me, but one thing that worked is I kept it easy to make sure I lasted for the end. And you know what it... it worked. This was the longest run since Eugene Marathon 2 months ago, and considering the tapering and the long sickness, I'm pretty happy with this. Some interesting dynamics happened this morning, with rejoining my newest running friend, Dave (BQ Dave), who picked up my 9:00 start to running low 8's, running in to my old friend Rick and running a short stint with him, to revisiting Beale's Point Hill at a snail's pace, and then getting punk'd by some Rebels gazelles who drafted me down hill at 7:13 pace. The cool thing afterwards is, though painful, I had the best and most consistent last 5 miles. The fatigue definitely set in but I channeled the Wester States runners energy to carry me home for a decent finish. I'm not back by a long shot, but I'm seeing improvement. Glad to end my week on a good note.
