UPDATE: It wasn't rubbing the top of toes. Tying the shoes too tight created a stress fracture. It felt like it was rubbing on the outside, when it was actually grinding on the inside. I gave myself a injury from tying my shoes. How stupid is that! 11/11/09

Wow. Not Good. Great trip. Bad Race. See Cim 2008 Report. All the same except first part faster, last part slower due to periods of stretching versus just walking like last year. Especially mile 24 where I finally stretched and then just kept running a "cool down". It all started though mile 13 when I had to stop to fix my shoe strings that were pull too tight at the toe box and digging in the top of my toes. STUPID!! I adjusted them the morning of the race thinking I need to make them tighter. IDIOT!

Gained alot of weight quitting tobacco. I was a fat kid running again today. The hills were unpredictable and deceiving. The pain was unbearable, cramping from stomach to foot. HOWEVER, the forced 2-3 mile zombie march after race was probably the best thing for our recovery. PAINFUL!!!! But necessary. I expect to be running by Saturday.

One more thing. I had a stupid idea to tighten my shoes more before the race (nerves). I was feeling the rub at mile 3 but I didn't stop to fix it until mile 13. That alone was easily a 5-6 minute mistake. If there is a rock in your shoe, get it out as soon as possible, not after it digs a hole in your foot.
