Ok, A week ago I figured racing a half marathon all out would nuke my training for at least a week and this is coming true. I took a three day mini taper averaging about 3 miles a day, ran the race, took a day, and am now easing back into it being mindful of recovery. The actual race didn't seem to cause much for muscle trauma but sure did do a number on my IT bands and my right achilles. My right knee and ball of my foot are grumpy too. It is amazing what a difference a day made from Monday to Tuesday. I should be back in the swing of things by Thursday. Not ideal headed to a longer race next week but who cares with a new half PR behind me. Getting a NYCM qualifier was also on the mind so I may throw another registration that way this winter unless I change my mind.. Mentally I've not enjoyed running less for most of the last week so I take that as a good sign.
