Notes

Holy hell it was hot. The heat smacked me in the face about 30 seconds into this run and I had to put it in cruise mode so I didn't overheat. At the minimum I wanted to run under 7s and was focusing on that but the course was longer than my garmin paced me for. In the end it was a 7:08 avg pace, evenly split. Got a side stitch just as I crossed the line so good timing with that. Third fastest run split.

What can I say? It was really damn hot. I'm not sure what I need to work on other than making sure it's not 96 degrees next time. Hell.

Lessons learned: Quads weren't rubbery from the bike. It was just the damn heat that got me.

5th fastest swim

17th slowest T1 split

fastest bike

23rd slowest T2 split

3rd fastest run split

3rd overall

52:13 in the end and third overall. For my first tri it's much better than I would have expected, even for a "training race." I didn't meet my bike or run goals but blew my swim goal "out of the water." Can't complain since swimming is my weakness.

A reminder that transitions are important. Top 3 were spread by 29 seconds w/o transitions yet I lost by over 2 minutes due to poor transitions.
