Plan was to run first half that trended uphill conservatively then push strongly on the second half downhill to negative split a good workout. Did that. Working the downhills, strong on the flats, and gently on the uphills.

Only passed two runners on the way back and was mostly isolated. Hit mile marker 8 with my watch reading 8.23. That was a mental setback as I knew the runners ahead were too far ahead to reel in and I'd not run anything near my goal with a course trending towards a quarter mile too long. I kept going anyway.

2 minute negative split: 31:02.69 (6:33 pace) & 29:00.77 (6:08 pace)

Race was supposed to be 15K (9.3) but my watch (and other watches) came up with 9.5 and using two different online tools I measured over 9.6… I don't think the course was accurate. According to the course description we took the wrong turn in an office park, which added 2/10 mile so I did run closer to the goal pace (6:20).

Felt great at the end. A great indicator for New Bedford in about six weeks.
