Kent Turkey Trot 5k.
Good weather: sunny, clear, 35F at the 9:30 a.m. start. About 400 runners.
Out-back on a bike path from Fred Fuller park. Hill in the first and last 1/2 mile, otherwise a flat course. Looked like lots of fast h.s. and college kids in the race. And Wade. No mile markers but found myself in 8th place at 1/2 mile, 6th at the mile, and into 4th by the turn-around. Big gap to leaders. Passed 3rd and then saw the 2nd place guy stop at the two-mile mark. Strange. Next thing I know I'm in second. Wade on my shoulder by 2.5 and he mentioned we were well clear of fourth place. I didn't have enough to duke it out with Wade and he left me on the climb up to the park. Finished 17:50 and Wade about 10 seconds ahead. 3rd place.
