Brutal!
I volunteered at Parkrun in the morning then headed down to Rålis. Felt pretty good in the race, it was a bit sunny but not too warm. The sweat gutr did its job very well.
Reached the 10km mark at 46:54 (Garmin said 47:30) and felt like I has gone out too hard but I tried to hold on as sub 1:40 was still possible. It was still within reach until 16km and then the wheels came off. The last 5km were brutal. I was clinging on to try and finish and I knew I was getting slower and slower. The Garmin was warning me that I was in danger of missing out on even 1:45 (it was running long but I wasn't sure by how much). When I got to 20km it said I was only 40 seconds up on 5min/km pace (I know see that this was not true!).
The last km was horrible. The finish could not come soon enough and I was out on my feet just desperate for the end. So with that said, I couldn't ask for more effort so 1:42 is a pleasing result. That's a 13min PB!
