Notes
If i get the excuses in early:
- was sick with flu and only recovered the day before
- it was rainy and muddy and slippery
- i took a wrong turn and lost 1 to 2 minutes
- i went out too hard
At the start I was hoping to get 77 mins as I had ran the course the week before in training and got 79. But it was not to be, a disappointment with 81. The Lidingö silver medal looks to have evaporated away as I can't see me improving quickly enough.
The course was pretty wet and at times I had to take it slow on the down slopes but in the main I paid for going out too fast and struggled from 10km onwards. I lost a group of three runners in the first hill after 10km and then went too hastily down a slope and took a wrong turn. Bumped into Phil and realised that I was going the wrong way!
Felt gassed on the last few km and was a bit demotivated after the wrong turn. That said i was pushing hard and struggling to keep from bringing up my early dinner.
