Set out to do 8 miles at Tempo pace. After a two mile warm-up at 8:00 min/mile, struggled to do two miles at 6:20. Did next few miles varying pace between 6:20, 6:35, and 7:30 as I tried to get my body to respond to what should have been an easy tempo pace. Dropped back to 7:30 min pace for a while and then did a mile at race pace. All in all, this was a pretty lousy workout, and even more frustrating because besides 10K races, I haven't hit any tempo speeds over 6 miles in the last two months. Maybe last nights 13 miler did me in, or I need more carbs, it's tough to say. Now my challenge will be to make this up without affecting my half marathon next weekend.
