Notes

I was excited to arrive at home and find a package on the doorstep: my new shoes had been delivered. I ordered the Brooks Ghost 3 to save some money instead of buying the 4 again. I'll buy the 4 later this year when the new models come out, because by then the prices will be discounted.

I hadn't run since Saturday morning's recovery run so I strangely thought I would have trouble during this run. But my legs settled into a comfortable pace. Unfortunately, I started my run so late (8:16) that it was completely dark along parts of the 5mi loop. The sidewalk can be treacherous in the dark but I didn't take any spills. I looped Pennington Road, Upper Ferry Road, Lower Ferry Road, Parkway then Olden Ave, noticed that Jeannie and the boys still weren't home, then headed toward TCNJ for my speed work. Since I had already passed 5 miles, I knew it would be tight to squeeze in six 600m loops and run back home, since the college is more than 1.5 miles from the house. So, I took a shorter route to TCNJ, crossing the Shabakunk Creek. The sprints were tough after having run about ~6 miles and I don't like doing them, but they're good for me, right? I wonder who likes to do repeats anyway. I actually started my first one on Pennington road, counting 220 strides which for my stride length usually equals about 1/3 of a mile. I checked my watch and noticed it was at .37 miles - perfect! I jogged to the track and did three more using the markers, then headed for home, doing two more on the way back home. I did one as I exited the track and reached Pennington Road, then my last one started on Pennington road and finished as I turned onto Thurston (which reminds me of the time Dimitri came to my house for the River2Sea relay. He followed google maps to get to my house, and came down Thurston because google misled him into believing Thurston and Sutherland road are connected, but the creek separates them :)
