Notes

I was worried about this run because my right knee has been incredibly tight since Wednesday night. However, once I got on the road, things seemed okay. The knee was still tight but I was able to run pretty well. The hills out in Lancaster County are not to be fooled with :) In my second mile, I saw two women running ahead of me and I caught up to them and passed them. I started the first woman because I passed her just after a horse and buggy crossed her path. I think she was anticipating the horse and buggy to pass, and once it did she was not expecting any other souls nearby, so my "good morning" startled her as I passed her. Then her running partner was about 1/4 mile ahead and I reached and passed her too. I had hoped they were running faster to I could have some company, but looking back I see I had sped up unintentionally.

Mile 5 was fun! I made a turn onto my second road and a horse a buggy going in my direction turned at the same time. I noticed I was almost keeping pace with it and then noticed two young Amish boys sitting in the back smiling at me. I picked up the pace just a tad and paced the back of the buggy. They smiled even more, so I poured on the speed and started the pass the buggy. To make it easier for me, we started going downhill and this became my fastest mile (7:12). I knew I would pay for it later, but it was so much fun to pass the horse and buggy. I stayed ahead of it until they turned off (I presume to go to church). After that, a few of the hills slowed my miles down to about 8:20 and 8:30. But it was a good run.
