Notes
I started out this run worried that it would not go well. The first mile fell into place, but the first quarter mile was horrible. Once my legs warmed up I seemed to perform well. I chose miles two and three for my "marathon pace" miles, and ended up running them faster than I will actually run the marathon. But the pace came pretty easy - yes I pushed a bit but I wasn't struggling at all. 6:52 and 6:49 are pretty good splits for not pushing too hard. These miles felt like the first few of the Rutgers Half. Then I figured I would settle into an 8:40 pace for the remainder of the run, but to my pace was below 8:00. I decided to cut it to a six mile run because I was running short on time. And besides, this is taper week :) After the run, my back pain returned and I felt it a bit during deep breaths during my run. My knee didn't bother my much during the run, and after it actually felt a little looser. I think the additional blood flow helped evacuate fluids that had built up in the tissue around the knee. I'm sure it will tighten back up after sitting in my cubicle all afternoon. It was very humid and I was sweating a lot at the end. Overall though, it was a good run.
