Notes
I wasn't sure I was going to go for it this morning. I've trained like an idiot (which is to say, not really at all) over the last month. My right calf has been giving me minor fits the last few days. Plus, it was sunny and a bit warm. I decided right before I left the house that today would be a good day to run my first race ever without a hat or something on my head. I had every excuse in the book in my back pocket.
And then I went out and crushed it.
I got sucked into the vortex the first mile, but slowly backed off to the 7-flat pace I was looking for. Mile 5 had the bulk of any uphills in the generally flat race, and the last mile I just stayed strong and kept pushing. I passed about 8 people in the last mile and a half. New plan starts on Tuesday. Mile race in just under five weeks. Time to get after it, but for another day I'm going to enjoy this one.
