This was just the race I hoped for. A little cooler than normal and the course was pretty flat. Just one decent hill around mile 1.5. First time to run this, usually working the finish line. Took off and passed Mike Fleming right at the start. Marsha was ahead and blasting quickly as usual. Tried to keep her in sight. Started to close and then was able to move past Marsha on the hill. Next target was Marc Burger. Caught up and then fell behind and then passed him for good. Almost kept each mile at sub 7. Each of these miles was my fastest single mile ever. 7:06 on the track years ago was my best.
Really tight on the splits and good close. No lie, a really, really good race but a 5K also hurts bad. Not my favorite. So, last of the race distances for a PR this year until Steamtown.
