New PR - so that's something to celebrate. Former PR was set here - on this course - last year in 1:29:21. Today's race was a 2:42 improvement.
However, my goal going in was a 1:24:59. This course is tough. Even after I realize that was out of reach, I would have thought a 1:25 was quite achievable. Apparently not, I fell apart at 10 and beyond.
It was a disappointment to have faded as I did after the killer climb at 9.5. That hill is monstrous. Even before that, however, I faded on an earlier hill - I believe around mile 7.
I simply couldn't hold the 6:30 pace as I had hoped. Perhaps I could chalk it up to fatigue. I've scaled up mileage dramatically the last three weeks since doing Austin.
Overall, a good day... anytime you set such a significant PR, you cannot complain .... I guess.
