Nothin' like a good run up Elephant back to make you feel out of shape! But also accomplished! On June 9th, exactly two months ago, I set a goal that I would run up Elephant back (4 mile trail in my backyard, 800 feet of elevation gain) by the end of the summer. Well as of today I have exactly 1 week left here (RIP my heart is ripping in half and breaking my soul at the same time) so it was about time I attempted it. Work was a crazy chaotic shitshow today so I didn't have time to eat breakfast or lunch so I was a Grumpy Gus according to my coworker Chris which I will not deny. A good distracting run was definitely needed. My lungs burned and my legs burned and people said some funny things to me on my way up ("show off" "you go girl" "I dare you to run this 10 times") but I made it!! Sat at the top and enjoyed the view for a while before heading down. Going down just about killed my knees. I was pretty pleased with my overall pace the whole time especially considering I got out of breath just hiking up this when I first got here and I wasn't acclimated. A good summer of hiking (I'm almost at 200 miles for the summer, trying to hit that before I head out) prepared me. Yay, mission accomplished.
