Didn't start a watch because I just wanted to run and not stress about pace. I felt pretty good, of course I was running pretty slow but I didn't care today. It felt really good outside with the sun to warm me up (36 degrees while I ran) and it's always nice to start my day with a run. Today and tomorrow are my days off, going camping tonight!

So as you may have heard, the bison has recently been named our national mammal, so here's something interesting you may not know. In the 1800s there were millions of bison roaming around all of north america and lots of Native American tribes followed herds of bison to survive. Unfortunately then Europeans came and over hunted the bison, and their population was reduced to the HUNDREDS. The furry friends were almost GONE. But they have made huge efforts to increase the population again and now there are about 5000 living here in YNP and others living on private property around the west. But what I find very interesting is that the Native Americans would average 1 bison per person per year in their tribe. So if the tribe had 40 people, they would kill about 40 bison a year and use every single part of it. I'm impressed!
