My first race since late 2019! I started out very quick with a 5:14 first mile downhill & with the wind, but as expected, my cardio fitness was my main obstacle as my lungs couldn't keep up with my legs, so for the last two miles I was just cruising as fast as I could sustainably, admittedly without much of a racing mindset.
I was hoping to beat my 17:14 from last year, but given my training/injury struggles and how little I've actually trained faster than easy pace, I'm just happy to be back into racing and know what I need to work on. We'll look for some improvement in other races this summer!
