Notes

First time on Matrix exercise bike (bought it used on Saturday).

Good workout. Goal was to get used to it and give myself 30+ minutes to get warm and sweaty.

There are 11 "levels" of resistance. Level 5 is a bit easy -- HR steadies out around 121 bpm (at ~80-85 rpm). Level 6 is a bit hard -- HR steadies out around 141 bpm (at ~80-85 rpm).

Plan: Spend time at easy efforts (level 5) to build endurance. Maybe throw in some harder efforts (level 6) to see if this can become just as easy (lower HR) over time. Today, I did 3 Fartlek reps of 3 min ON (level 6), 2 min Easy (level 5).

3 min at Level 6 seems tough right now.

(Q: Is HR equivalent effort between running and biking? I can run at 140 bpm and it doesn't feel all that hard, and I can sustain it for 90 minutes. 140 bpm on the bike is tough -- 3 minutes was a LONG time at 140 bpm on the bike!
