Boston Marathon: leg cramps at mile 18. Rough walk/jog/slog thereafter.

I do not think that running at a slower pace would've helped. My legs were going to cramp due to the lack of downhill prep regardless of pace today. However, had I mixed in walking at every other water stop, that might've delayed the leg cramps quite a bit. Lesson learned -- when your training is derailed, and you know you aren't really ready for the race, and it's the Boston marathon with notable downhill portions, and temperatures are into the 60's, ... well, you should set your expectations a LOT lower and run a smarter race!! I probably had a 3:20 in me today, but I ran at a 3:08 pace ... for about 18 miles. End result is a 3:38, which really isn't all that horrible. Great day otherwise!!
