Houston Marathon!!! Despite feeling like I was coming down with strep or something in the days before the race (both girls have it), this went really well for me overall. I decided to shoot for a 9:20 pace. Trained at a 9:09 but didn't feel I was quite there. I felt strong throughout the race and even sped up some in the middle part, but I couldn't sustain it over the last 5 miles. My quads started cramping up pretty bad during the last 5k. Not sure if that was because I lacked the endurance to finish, or I just went out a little too fast for my fitness? It was around 40 to start - cold and biting wind. I wore a tank and shorts (most people had more clothing!) and I threw away a sweatshirt just before the start. I was cold the first 3 miles, but after that was fine.
