Notes

Another easy W at Roxbury in the books, but this course was definitely more challenging than last week. As the map shows, started with a gradual up that wasn't so bad but at 8:30am, not how my legs would prefer to start. Then down Hemlock, which I guess was good to get rolling on but it was honestly a little too steep for my tastes, then a gradual up culminating in a very steep hill, but finished with the same nice 0.6mi downhill as last week. Again didn't want to go to the lead immediately but the pace was so slow to start that I had to take it sooner than I wanted, only about half a mile in. Should have gone sooner honestly, the first mile was supposedly 6:15, but those markers aren't always perfect. 5:45 for the next, and 6:05 for the 3rd which, like last week, was good for much quicker with the big ol hill. Similar finish pace to last week. This week I timed my rest at 3min and set out to do 2 more miles, which went 5:39-5:42 (more flat than the course but still not flat). Will probably feel the hill tomorrow but the rest of it was comfortable.

5:35 pace flat-converted for the "race" for reference, 5:33 converted for the add-on, so pretty spot on. Maybe next week I'll forego Roxbury to do an actual flat tempo so I don't have to do silly conversions... but they're so much more fun than tempoing solo!

Biggest news of the day was finding out that Chalybes St is not pronounced "Chay-buls" but instead "Chal-ee-bess!" All these years I thought it was spelled Chaybles... what a shock! Looks like I'm 2/2 for life changing revelations these past two weeks.

Was your other life changing revelation that Osborne's was in Duxbury?

Paul Malek

No but that's a good one too. It was learning that Jeff Sheldon was a chill dude and not an ass. But count in Duxbury and we're at 3/3 in weekly revelations
