Notes

Well...I mean, sub 5 will be the goal until it's absolutely, positively clear that it's not in the realm of possible. It wasn't tonight, but that doesn't mean it can't be.

First lap was super slow, 39 or something, I was running with Chris Pags (who ended up with 4:58). Then we WAY overcompensated on second lap to come in at 1:14...2:31 through 809, and the air was getting scritchy...the next 600 meters were a disaster. The fast guys in the heat just kept getting farther away, and there wasn't a thing I could do about it. I tried to respond, but my lungs and legs had nothing.

Just managed not to get lapped by the winner (I heard him finish behind me)...4:31 with a lap to go, I mustered what I had - felt like a full sprint but in reality was a 37s lap. Ha. Oh well, at least I know where I stand, and have something to work on. Plan to try again on Feb 10.
