Notes
Feeling good at the starting line. Lined up in the second row; seemed a bit presumptuous to line up in the very front, since there were 50 year olds in the heat as well. At the starting gun, took off immediately at race pace with 2-2 breathing. In planning, I had considered a very brief warmup. Nope. Most of my doubts were in the first quarter. When I saw the first marker, I felt like it hadn't been too long. Gained more confidence at the halfway point, and continued pushing, but remained relaxed. No real idea, but I think my pace stayed even. After the initial shakeout, no one passed me, but I passed several. When I saw the clock in the final straightaway, I tried to get under 6:30, but couldn't do it.
DW came to cheer for us. Saw Ann & Karen & Charlie & Amy & Sue. Little kids were fun to watch.
