Notes
Didn't get watch started, so this is official timing. Race was very carefully run, due to the pandemic. Masks required, no milling about, starting gate was a coned off grid supporting only 24 runners. I was in wave 2B. Feeling good in my warmups. When my wave was called, I got in my place, and pinned my mask to my shorts. Thought I got my watch going, but it must have not been synced by the time I pressed the start button. The first half mile is a significant descent, and I evidently took it at a breakneck pace, because subsequent miles clocked over 8:00. A young woman named Dusty* passed me near the end of mile 1, but I kept her pretty close to the finish, close enough that I had a little hope of passing her with a final kick, but that didn't happen. Legs felt pretty good on Killer Hill. Poor Connie Belt was struggling there in her wheel chair as I went past. Hung around to see DD finish and walk her to our cars. She was happy with her race as well. I was happy with the way it went, and really happy to see the results when I got home.
Also: Age graded result is posted for this race. I was #47, age factor 69.81. One older person, 74-yo Nancy Howard beat me with her 40:00 run, 30th place, 73.59.
* I knew her name because she had a lot of fans cheering for her. :)
