Initial plan was the J Street loop, but a glance at the sliver moon in the eastern sky caused me to change it to the Lake loop. I still considered shortening to four miles, but went on, and was very glad I did. On the way back, there was a doe and two tiny spotted fawns coming out of the thick cover, headed for the creek. They saw me and gazed at me as I held still, then continued on their way, unconcerned. Beautiful.
