Notes

Another rest day.

I thought a lot about my training yesterday and today. This past 5 months was a lot of racing and moderate miles with some workouts sprinkled in and a lot of recovery days. My goal going into this spring was to work on one weakness, my speed. I failed at that, though other than racing shorter races, I didn't do much to complete my goal. Maybe next year I work on that again with a little more enthusiasm and intelligence.

But for the rest of this year, I plan on returning to my strengths, mainly, being able to do a lot of work, which means:

1) Lots of miles, this is the obvious one, I still don't know what I can handle, but I'm going to do more the last year and hopefully have several months over 350.

2) Revive the supplemental work, the core work and lifting. Things I did all the time in college that I never do anymore. I've partly been hampered by my many races that I never wanted to add more work when I had a race in less than 2 weeks. But mostly this was laziness.

3) Throw in some other activities. More tennis, play some golf, and I'm in a summer soccer league. Other than being fun, it never hurts to be a well-rounded athlete, not just a runner.

With no races on my radar for the next month or 2, I should be able to adjust to the new stresses before I want to run fast again. Here we go.

Solid plan Nutmeg. I think I will be jumping on your plan in a couple of weeks.
