Notes

After seeing many other alumni doubling (or tripling in Sherpa Sherpa's case), I decided to join the ride. I was feeling good on the warmup except for a tight right calf. But the race started and I was tired. The steeple seemed to have passed my quota on the number of laps I could run at 5min pace. So I hung on and drafted off many people, 1st mile in slightly over 5 min. Started to pick up the pace with 800 to go or so. With 400 to go it became apparent I was about to be lapped. Since I didn't want this to happen, I decided to kick a lap early and enjoy the odd looks of such a spectacle. Slowed down some after sucessfully not getting lapped, but the faster pace awoke something within me and decided to unleash my freshmen/slacker/this-only-happens-when-I-run-slow-times kick. Passed a group and enjoyed the many high fives after this 20+ person race.
