Soft surfaces seem like a good idea. So I arrive at the trailhead with just an old ambulance and some weirdo sitting in it. As I get out, he gets out and says my name... and holy crap it's my old high school teammate Justin Olk. And I know that name means nothing to my 0-3 readers, so here are the deets.

Olk was a year younger than me on the high school team. We were good pals though never outside of school or practice. I was always better than him; though we did have a little rivalry my senior year when he was probably in better shape than me but had no kick so I beat him every time. He beat all my high school PRs his senior year and would brag to me. I believe I saw that he would run some marathons but not run on a team in college. Anyway, he's now balding and has a large unkempt beard and living out of the ambulance, so he's looking the part well. Still, he's got a job in Denver, still in shape, and enjoying life. Sounds good to me.

The run was bland but went by fast.
