I guess this will be my longest run in a few months, at least I got 13.1 miles before I race that next week. Plan was 3x3mile w/ 5min rest, with optimistic paces of 5:50's, 5:40's, 5:30's, but that didn't happen.

#1: Ended up just doing this piece in my trainers. Definitely eased into this one as I started out about 6:10 pace. The next 2 miles were only slightly faster so saying this was marathon pace was agreeable. Unfortunately I didn't feel good, most of which was due to a very tight left hamstring (thanks ultimate). By the end I was questioning how wise it would be to finish this workout.

#2: Putting on flats gave me a nice boost. I don't know if my stride changed or if my hamstring just warmed up, but it felt much better. I still wasn't going very fast (average of 5:50 or so), but at least it felt comfortable.

#3: I thought this piece would be more net downhill, but not so much. Plus it was all into the wind (not much of a wind, but complainable). I was able to pick up the pace to low 5:40's, but it was a struggle at times. At least I finished without feeling too tired.

If I don't read too much into the paces I ran, this was a great workout as I got a lot of miles of faster running in. I'll hope a taper and better hamstrings will result in feeling great at 5:40 pace come next week.
