Workout day, the goal was to get some race pace work in. Rebel pointed me to a 1.5 mile stretch of asphalt I could run on without much traffic or hills. The initial plan was 4 x 1.5mi, but I ended up doing half that then 3 x 1mi (so still 6 miles, just an extra break in there).

1st 1.5 felt alright, caught between it feeling good and thinking it should feel much better. My right hamstring felt a bit tight but seemed relieved whenever I would switch to running on the other side of the road (thus changing the slant that I was running on). 5:28 pace.

2nd 1.5 was back in the net uphill direction. Though it was mostly in the final quarter mile that it becomes a real burner. 5:30 pace.

1st mile. I probably shouldn't have started thinking about altering the workout before even attempting this 3rd rep. But I did and was happy to stop 1 mile in with a big downhill headstart. 5:27..

2nd mile. Cruised on this one and stopped before the final uphill for a nice time. 5:22..

3rd mile. Even with this one being mostly downhill, it took a lot of effort to get below 5:30. 5:25.

Hard to say where I'm at right now, so I'm just putting in the work while I can. Climbing and running trails will have me pretty beat up for the next week, then we'll see what a taper and new flats can do for my legs.
