Bike ride with Naomi. It was still early enough to be cool out. We immediately had a detour that would add on several miles of non-bike-lane highway riding... so instead to went around the construction tape and rode the to-be-paved road to the bike path.
The first 10miles went by quickly and were shocked when that's all it took to get to Madrid's welcome sign (so much closer than coming from Ankeny). That was a bit misleading though as the town came a bit later and then a few more miles to the High Trestle Bridge. We stopped for a good view before deciding to go the 2.5 more miles to Woodward, which would be our turnaround and also unknowingly the end of the High Trestle Trail.
We made it back to the bridge before taking a longer break. Then, with our only destination being Huxley again, the final 13miles dragged on. Of course it was also getting warmer and we found an unwelcome headwind too. Still, a good ride, my legs thankfully survived, and maybe longer rides to come.
