I was planning on doing a Pella road 5k this evening, hoping for an easy win and big payout. Thankfully Active.com allowed me to search participants and I found out Eli Horton was racing. So I passed on this one and he easily won in 15:28. Instead I decided to do a random fartlek-type workout on the trails.
I'm doing an obstacle race next weekend to see what that's like, so I made up a workout to prepare for that. Basically I did a fartlek on the trails, sometimes taking the uphill hard, sometimes the downhill, sometimes both; then I threw in pushups a few times, pullups once, and burpies once. I'm hoping I would have felt much better if I hadn't climbed yesterday, because I was struggling at times.
