High Trestle

Notes

Waking up and walking around, it's definitely my right achilles that is the tight one, but it soon felt more normal and I think it's nowhere close to how bad my left one was last year. Still, I'll take the bike out today and test running tomorrow.

The conditions were good for riding (some good breezes) and a lot of people were out. I kept to the bike path as I would need to be on a busy road in order to get to the long stretches of gravel. I felt fine, kept it easy going into the wind as usual.

I finally got on some gravel for a few miles towards the end of the ride because it is more fun (at least when it's feeling good with the wind at my back). However, one of the roads seemed a bit bumpier and it looked obvious that new rock had been poured recently. I could mostly avoid it on the shoulder and it was soon done. I roared down the next hill and decided to power up the final hill. But this section had new rock as well; I was near the top and things felt off, I stop and I find a flat rear tire. I'm about a mile to 1.5 miles out, so I decide to just walk it back. Not ideal, but could be worse.
